Digital Photography

I began using photography primarily as a visualization tool for painting but quickly came to the same conclusion as Man Ray, who said, "I photograph the things that I do not wish to paint, the things which already have an existence."

Unlike paintings, these photographs inspire poetry from me.  Perhaps this is because they feel more directly personal. I took many of these images in an effort to ease the pain of a significant loss; many have corresponding poems which will soon be published in a book called "The House of the Liminal."  Coming soon.

The photographs in these sets, while often creating juxtapositions of existing things, are not Photoshopped beyond cropping. For me this is important; it is the phenomena captured here that interests me.
